It was a night to forget for an uninspired Arsenal team as they were battered comprehensively by an impressive Chelsea side in the final of the Uefa Europa League.
Arsenal had an impressive run up to the final having beaten Napoli and Valencia in unoreunpreced styles. With that, it was expected that they would prove a handful and possibly win a Chelsea side that had very easy fixtures leading up to the finals but that was not to be.
The first 45 minutes ended in a stalemate albeit with Chelsea coming tops in performance. The second period started almost as the first period ended and before the first hour, Olivier Giroud opened the scoring against his former side in a signature manner; heading into the back of the net following a cross from Emerson.
Not long after, Pedro adfed a second then a third followed from the penalty spot through Eden Hazard.
This prompted Unai Emery to bring on Iwobi in place of Torreira. It proved to be an impactful as Iwobi scired a screamer 2 minutes after introduction.
That was nowhere near enough for a shabby Arsenal tean as Eden Hazard added a fourth and his second for the night almost immediately Making him the first player to score a brace in a European cup final.
Chelsea eventually ran out deserved winners to the delight of Sarri and Chagrin of Emery who was hitherto dubbed a specialist in the European League.
